Salary: Grade H - £29,323 to £32,486 per annum

Full Time – 36 Hours Per Week
Fixed Term Contract For 12 Months Due To Specific Funding

Located at: Tame Street Depot, Tame Street, Stalybridge, SK15 1ST

The Role
Our Regulatory Services has a strong record of taking a proactive enforcement stance and using their full range of skills in an effective and innovative way to secure compliance from landlords that fail to meet the required standards.

We are looking for an experienced Housing Standards Officer to join us on a 12 month fixed contract. You will need to be self-motivated, adaptable and flexible in your approach and continually want to develop yourself. The role is demanding and will require you to take responsibility for a varied caseload, with a high level of professionalism. Your duties will include:

Make HHSRS inspections in accordance with the Housing Act 2004

• Licensing and inspecting HMO properties in line with the legislation and council policies

• Undertake enforcement action when necessary to ensure that the health & safety of the property is brought up to the housing standards that the council deems appropriate

• Collate evidence to assist in investigations against rogue landlords including preparation of written cases and serving notifications

• Work with Tameside Housing Advice to support the implementation of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, in particular with regard to checking that Section 21 notices issued by private landlords are valid and that offers of accommodation in the private rented sector comply with the requirements of the Homelessness Suitability of Accommodation Order 2012
