SOCIAL WORKER - CRIMINAL JUSTICE MENTAL HEALTH

22.5 hours, Permanent

Salary: Grade H. Scale 29 - £20,018 to Scale 34 - £23,047 with a profession bar at SCP 31 **

1. Relevant professional qualification for the job role at Level 6 or above, AND
2. Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in the role, AND
3. Maintained membership of a regulated body where this is a requirement to practice in the role where applicable, AND
4. Professional standards practised to the highest expected level.

This is an exciting opportunity for a confident, motivated and organised individual to join a small but very busy Criminal Justice Mental Health Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in Tameside as part of the Criminal Justice Mental Health Service that covers the Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust. The role and function of the Team is to offer advice, assessment, risk assessment and provide short and medium term interventions through care management for service users with mental health needs who are on the periphery of offending behaviour or have committed an offence. Longer term intervention may be required for those adults who have committed serious crimes in accordance with the Forensic Mental Health Social Work, Capabilities Framework 2016.

You will screen, assess, develop support plans, risk manage, care manage and where appropriate signpost and refer onto appropriate services. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and as such will develop effective working relationships with the mental health services, police, probation, courts and prison services.
The post holder will be expected to undertake a certain amount of travelling in the course of his/her duties for which a casual car user allowance will be paid. Appointment to this post is subject to enhanced DBS check

The post holder will need to hold a Social Work qualification and be registered with the Health Care Professions Council.

You will need to be computer literate to access Pennine Care IT systems. The applicant will also have good communication and networking skills which is a key requirement of the post.
