Salary: SM4A
Building a better, bolder future
Trafford is a great place to live, work, learn and visit, and we are building upon the strengths of our communities, people and partnerships to meet our ambitions for all. We are in the process of creating a bolder, leaner council, which will shape and develop a new social and economic model for Trafford that grasps the opportunity for sustainable and inclusive growth while supporting those most in need. This will build on the momentum and positive experience of collaborative action and care shown by those involved in meeting the needs of residents and businesses impacted by Covid-19.
By 2023 we will be a people-focused, digitally enabled, commercially minded Council where our high-performing place-based services will provide an excellent customer experience, making the most of our assets in the borough.
We have also recently begun an exciting improvement journey to ensure we provide the best possible start in life to all our children, young people and families - especially the most vulnerable. We are committed to keeping our children safe, helping them achieve their ambitions and building a better future for all.
With a new DCS appointed in 2020, Trafford is now seeking an exceptional social care professional to join our Children’s Services Directorate and help us achieve our ambition: outstanding services that deliver outstanding outcomes for our children and families.
Our Strategic Lead for Safeguarding will work closely with managers and practitioners across the whole service to establish and embed a culture of continuous improvement. You will use coaching and mentoring approaches to inspire and enthuse practitioners and managers at every level, and to support their own practice and learning and deliver high quality services that make a difference. You will be responsible for driving forward our ambitious improvement plan and help us build our brighter future through the pursuit of excellence.
The postholder will be responsible for our IRO Service, Child Protection Conferencing function, LADO, Safeguarding Partnerships and associated services.
You will need to be a qualified social worker, with a rigorous approach, strong interpersonal skills, and a proven track record of service improvement with impact. Your ability to inspire colleagues and play a lead role in the change agenda at Trafford is essential.
You will also play a leading role in the collaborative work we are doing across the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, as we share and develop our innovative approaches to improve outcomes in children’s social care.
Our commitment to you
