Bacup High Street Heritage Action Zone Project Officer

Rossendale Borough Council is looking to appoint a Bacup High Street Heritage Action Zone Project Officer.

In April 2020, the Council successfully secured £1.08million from Historic England to deliver a 4-year High Street Heritage Action Zone in the heart of Bacup town centre. Known as ‘one of the best preserved mill towns in the country’ Bacup is a superb collection of architecture and heritage situated at the eastern end of the Rossendale Valley. The project is in its second year and the capital delivery of grant funded building restoration works is underway. Other elements of the project, include; the development and delivery of a vibrant and engaging public realm scheme and delivery of an innovative community engagement and training plan. The Project Officer will also have a proactive role within the Bacup Cultural Consortium, which is delivery a unique range of cultural activities throughout the duration of the High Street Heritage Action Zone project.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of actively engaging with building and business owners; working alongside critical stakeholders and other external organisations such as local community and voluntary groups; project management skills are critical to ensure the grant funding achieves the aims and objectives of the project. The successful candidate will be innovative, enthusiastic and comfortable working within this varied role.
