Trafford Councils 24 hour control room is currently seeking a CCTV Control Room Operator for a full time position to deliver the effective monitoring of CCTV across public areas within the Trafford Council area.

This is an exciting time for our CCTV and Out of Hours control room services as we are about to co-locate and enter into a partnership with our colleagues in Salford in excellent facilities with new infrastructure and market-leading equipment.

You will act as a primary link to all stakeholders including GMP and other Emergency Services, Community Safety staff, Social and Mental Health Services, schools, facilities managers and other partners to help detect and eliminate crime and anti-social behaviour within the community and to ensure access to Council services out of hours. You will also assist the wider community by responding to enquiries from the general public, therefore excellent communication are essential together with strong customer service skills.

The role will provide an exciting and challenging job for the successful applicant monitoring the borough, dealing with phone, radio and alarm response. The ability to think clearly and prioritise is important as well as being able record details accurately on the operating system. You should also be ready to deal with members of the public making various enquiries about council services. You will be required to demonstrate an ability to organise and prioritise your workload and have the ability to respond and adapt to changing priorities to ensure delivery of a quality service.

This position requires a highly motivated individual that works well under pressure. Responsibilities also include the ability to constantly monitor all activities and communications even in the event of an emergency ensuring that correct procedures are followed for the call out of Council Staff.

Because of the work it is essential that the post holder holds a valid SIA licence as well as passing a Non-Police personnel vetting investigation prior to commencing employment.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with two forward thinking local authorities at the forefront of partnership working, in a service that is expanding into the commercial world.

This post is exempted under the terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 2003. The successful candidate will be subject to a Police Vetting check.
