Commissioning Support Officer (Placements)
REQ00738
Salary – £26,470 - £28,221 per annum
Closing date – 30th September 2018
Interview date – Provisional date 8th October 2018.

Do you have a passion for helping vulnerable children and young people? Do you want to work in a lively and fast paced environment where no two days are the same? If so this job may be for you!

We are looking for a new member to join our children’s placement finding team. The team has been established for 2 years now and has grown from strength to strength. We are now in a position to expand the team and are looking for a Commissioning Support Officer to join us.

The post holder will have responsibility for managing searches for children and young people who are looked after by Trafford Council and who need a placement. The majority of placements will be with an Independent Fostering Agency (IFA) or a children’s residential home. The expansion of the team will include placement searches for 16+ (care leavers) and complex and additional needs placements so knowledge and experience in either area is advantageous. The job involves sending referrals about the young person to providers, liaising between providers and social workers to broker the placement and confirming contractual arrangements once the placement has been agreed and some project work. The post holder will be managing several searches at any one time and will need to be able to prioritise and respond flexibly in the case of emergency placements.

The successful candidate will work alongside 2 Commissioning Support Officers currently managing placement searches with additional support from the team’s Project Support Officer and line management from a Commissioning Officer.

Job descriptions within the commissioning team are generic at each level and cover a wide variety of skills, experience and knowledge. If you feel you have the right skills for this role but need further information please contact us for an informal and confidential discussion about the role; Laura.Barton@Trafford.gov.uk (0161 912 2770) or angela.brown@trafford.gov.uk.
