An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic person to join Trafford Local Studies and Archives working within Trafford Libraries. This is an ideal chance for someone who is interested in working in the archives sector.
This is a full time post of 36.25 hours per week, worked on a rota basis, that involves working some evenings and Saturdays.
Trafford Local Studies provides a front line enquiry service which includes the delivery of archives and documents to both internal and external users.
You will work in a small team as directed by the Local Studies Specialist and need to have an enthusiastic and motivated approach to working with archives including some knowledge of care and conservation. We are looking for someone who is able to work under pressure, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to research relevant historical information on behalf of users. You will also assist with some of the administrative tasks in the day to day running of the service. Knowledge of the Calm Archive Collections Management System would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given. The role will also involve lifting and the use of stepladders in the delivery of archives
