Bikeability is ‘cycling proficiency’ for the 21st century, designed to give the next generation the skills and confidence to ride their bikes on today’s roads.

Active Tameside requires ten national standard instructors to work on the Bikeability program from April 16th 2018 until 19th July 2018 (Term Time Only). The working hours will be twenty hours per week usually Monday –Thursday and when required occasional Fridays

The main functions of the roles are to work closely with the Senior Instructors and the Bikeability Officer to deliver high quality, practical training within the school premises and on a trafficked road environment.

The scheme delivers road safety training at level 1 & 2 to Tameside primary schools. All candidates must be available to work Monday – Friday from 9.00am – 3.15pm.

Successful candidates will be put on the National Standard instructor course to be held in Tameside on 12th March, 13th March, 14th March, 15th March 2018: 9.00am -4.00pm. This is compulsory training for the role holder. Once qualified you will be placed with experienced instructors to deliver the programme within local primary schools.

Ideally candidates should have some experience of working with primary school aged children and be confident bike riders themselves, you must also possess good organisational and communication skills.
