ASSISTANT PLANNING OFFICER

Grade G SCP 23 £26,999 – SCP 28 £31,371

Location: Dukinfield Town Hall

Full Time, Permanent

At Tameside, our vision for the Planning Service is to say yes to good development openly and quickly. This is why the Council continues to invest in its planning service to support ambitious plans for growth and regeneration.

We are looking to recruit a new Assistant Planning Officer to our Development Management team who will manage a caseload of smaller scale, less complex planning applications and pre-application enquiries. Whilst this will be the primary focus, there will also be opportunities to work with senior planning officers to assist on more complex and high profile projects to help you gain additional skills and experience, and to assist in identifying and implementing more efficient ways of working.

We are therefore looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, professional, organised and well-motivated and who can demonstrate a real commitment to our vision for the service. You will either have, or be currently working towards, a town planning degree recognised by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or hold a degree in a closely related subject.

In return, we can offer you a chance to thrive and develop your career in town planning. The position is permanent with a competitive salary and opportunities for further training and support to support you in working towards RTPI membership. Tameside is also a great place to live and work only a short distance from Manchester City Centre and the Peak District National Park.

If you would like an informal and confidential discussion about the role and plans for the service, please contact Martyn Leigh, Development Manager (on 0161 342 3456).

This is a Full Time Post.

This post is a designated customer facing role under the fluency duty and requires a specified level of spoken English in the person specification.
