Advanced Practitioner

Grade I, SCP 40 - £36,153 to SCP 44 - £39,961 per annum
Permanent, 37 hours per week

Currently we are looking to recruit Case Holding Advanced Practitioners

As one of our Advanced Practitioners, your genuine passion for working directly with children, young people and families across Blackburn with Darwen will be what drives you forward. Your positive ‘can-do’ attitude coupled with your drive and enthusiasm will help you make the difference that strengthens our service and gives you that great source of satisfaction. We believe this is an exciting career opportunity for you that recognises and rewards your experience as a Social Worker and will offer you career progression whilst you contribute to the development of the Social Workers in our service.

The emphasis of this role will be on using the experience you have gained to ensure that the assessments, planning, intervention and subsequent review of these for children and their families are completed to a high standard. We know your experience will mean you can demonstrate a knowledge of evidence based approaches and the ability to use these in your practice.

There’s no doubt, in order to make a difference for the children and families in the Borough we serve, we need great people working together to achieve the very best we can. We are proud of the team spirit engendered right across our service and we know that having supportive colleagues around you is what makes the difference – so we really want to encourage you to join us and become an essential part of our service.

Whilst we are not going to shy away from the fact the work is challenging, it is also really rewarding and you will play such an important role in deciding what happens in our children’s futures – indeed, we just couldn’t do it without you. So we know you will understand why we want to make sure we get the right people with the right skills, attributes and abilities to join our service. Our assessment process for prospective candidates is really robust and our Children’s panel representatives play a key part in this.

We are delighted with the outcome of the Ofsted inspection December 2017 which rated us as ‘Good’.

We are based in Duke Street, which is a beautiful purpose built building with open plan office space, flexible seating arrangements, modern kitchen facilities and all the latest technology. There is also parking on site for a small contribution.

So, what’s in it for you?

Your commitment to your own professional development will be paramount - you will have access to approachable and supportive management who are committed to your ongoing development as we are keen to ensure you continue to develop a wide range of social work practice skills.

You will also be offered training as a Practice Educator for students who are wishing to progress their Social Work career by completing their placements with Blackburn with Darwen.

We are committed to offering flexible working and ensuring you achieve a good work life balance. We also offer supportive and directive management and a commitment to a manageable workload.

It goes without saying that you will be HCPC registered and have a thorough knowledge and experience of legislation, statutory guidance and regulations relating to children in need of support or protection. You will also need to have experience of safeguarding and court work and at least three years post qualifying experience.

Our approach is not to have closing dates – we like our doors to remain open at all times and we welcome you to apply at your convenience. We anticipate a round of interviews in the week of 25th February 2019. The advert will be closed upon successful recruitment to the posts.
