Senior Health & Safety Officer (School’s Capital team) – Post Ref: FWP724
Salary: PO6-9, £33,437 – £36,379 permanent, full-time

Calderdale strives to develop and improve the local primary and secondary education for children and young people. Within Calderdale the School’s Capital team manage, commission and deliver education projects ranging from refurbishment and remodeling works to extensions and complete new build schools.

 

The School’s Capital team are looking to recruit a Senior H&S Officer to actively support schools and the Schools Capital Team in the management of the school estate and non-building Health and Safety related services. The post holder will report to the Senior Commissioning Officer and be instrumental in developing the H & S service as a traded service, generating income through the provision of training support and advice.  The post holder will have a range of responsibilities around the management and monitoring of the school estate; issues ranging from compliance testing, advice on school led building projects plus fire safety issues amongst other responsibilities.  You will be working with a range of partners and stakeholders to ensure the safety of staff and pupils within Calderdale Schools.

 

Educated to degree level you will need to demonstrate a sound knowledge of H&S requirements (statutory and advisory).  You will have some knowledge around construction projects, specifically the measure required to satisfy statutory requirement around such work. Applications will be considered from those who have demonstrable experience in similar Health and Safety type roles and hold a recognised Health & Safety Qualification.
