POST ONE – ASSISTANT CARETAKER
Required from Monday 10 September 2018 (or as soon as possible after that)
Band 2 Points 11 – 15, £17,007 - £17,972 (pro rata to hours worked)
Actual salary: £8,210 - £8,676
Temporary for one year initially with potential to become permanent
Term time only (Relief work during holidays when required)
21 hours per week
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 4 – 8pm
Thursday 4 – 9pm
Occasional Saturdays or Sundays (keyholding only) on dates to be agreed at the School’s request. (Extra Hours during holidays and planned projects also possible)

The Governors of this popular and successful school are looking to appoint an outstanding and committed Assistant Caretaker to work alongside our Site Manager. The desired candidate will be keen to uphold the ethos and values of the school and will be able to offer some flexibility in terms of additional hours at the weekend and during holidays; shared with the site manager. This post is mainly to support school after school clubs (setting up and putting away), supervise parking etc. There will also be a small amount of cleaning required.

The successful applicant will:
• have relevant skills and experience for the post – be a handy-person with DIY skills, which include a basic knowledge of general maintenance
• be responsible for supervising the site during after school activities and lettings
• be responsible for securing the building every evening and at weekends to be arranged (shared with the site manager)
• be responsible for putting out and putting away the sports lighting during the autumn and winter
• have the ability to work constructively as part of a team
• have the ability to communicate effectively with all members of staff, parents, pupils and other agencies, both orally and written
• have awareness of confidentiality and child protection/safeguarding and be prepared to undertake appropriate training for this
• have the ability to identify own training and development needs and a commitment to undertake relevant training to address these
• be willing to uphold the school’s ethos and values
• have basic administrative skills
• have the ability to co-ordinate a wide variety of resources

The successful applicant will also be a keyholder for the premises and it is expected that he/she will have a flexible approach to rare emergency call outs e.g. if there is a burst. Any holiday entitlement must be taken during the school holiday periods.
