For over 30 years it has been working with children and young people struggling to stay in school due to a wide range of complex issues. We get children and young people back in school ready to learn, whatever it takes.

School-Home Support Practitioner - Montgomery High School, Blackpool

 

Term time plus 6 weeks

Fixed term contract for 1 year with potential to extend

Starting salary: £20,505 pa to £23,145 pa depending upon experience

This is an opportunity to work alongside Montgomery High School to support children and families to improve issues which are causing poor attendance and behaviour, helping parents to become more engaged with their child’s learning attainment and aspirations. The practitioner will work with pupils in Montgomery High School who are falling behind their peers in literacy and/or numeracy, by removing any barriers to their learning. Another crucial part of the role will be to provide practical and emotional support to vulnerable families across the school.

 

 The role will include working with the whole family to tackle poor attendance and behaviour, helping parents to become more engaged with their child’s learning and engaging parents in family learning. Successful candidates will have experience working in a school environment, delivering learning programmes and strong abilities in engaging challenging children and their parents. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of our established teams.

 

Duties of the role:

     Providing targeted casework for vulnerable pupils and families

     organise group work for both children and families

     provide 1:1 emotional and practical support for families

     encourage parental engagement in learning

     Undertake work supporting improved attendance

     support wider parental engagement in school

     work as part of a team

     collate and utilise data and statistics and produce reports for the funder

     To provide additional after school clubs throughout the school week for small cohorts of students

     To offer support to families on their caseload throughout the holidays, occasionally providing sessions for families and students.
