Democratic Services Administrator

Salary Grade F: £22,401 to £25,463 per annum

36 hours per week
Location: Dukinfield Town Hall

We are seeking to appoint a Democratic Services Administrator to provide effective support for the delivery of school admission appeals within the local authority area. You will be required to establish effective working relationships with the Council’s Education, Admissions and Legal services, schools, members of the Independent Appeal Panel and parents.

Positioned within Democratic Services the successful candidate will need excellent planning and organisational skills and the ability to manage and balance their workloads to meet the demands of the service. You will be required to work on your own initiative, be enthusiastic and dedicated whilst working in a highly professional and confidential manner.

With responsibility to ensure the Council’s admission appeals process complies with legislation and statutory guidance, the role is to ensure that information and evidence are correctly presented to the panel and to provide an independent service which is able to offer advice on procedure. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to ensure school appeals are heard fairly and impartially and that clear guidance for process is followed.

You will ideally have previous experience in the clerking of school appeals, similar hearings or a background in committee work. The role requires close working with members of the public and the ability to produce comprehensive and robust minutes from the hearings. Therefore excellent written and communication skills are an essential requirement for this post.

Awareness of process and requirements set in the School Admission Codes is essential to ensuring school appeals are delivered in an independent and effective manner.
