Learning Mentor

32.5 hours per week (8.30am – 3.30pm Monday – Friday with half an hour for lunch), term time only
Permanent contract from 1st January 2020.

Salary: Grade E scp 11 £15,998 - scp 16 £17,664 (term time only)

The Governors of Livingstone Primary School wish to appoint an enthusiastic, committee and skilled Learning Mentor to join our highly motivated team. Our latest Ofsted inspection in March 2017 graded the school as ‘good’ and particularly commented on the warm and supportive relationships and the welcoming, committed and respectful school community. We are committed to continuing to make improvements and ensure the very best standards for our children. The successful candidate will be a key part of the safeguarding team alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead. Previous experience of safeguarding policy and procedures is, therefore, essential. Another key part of the role will be as attendance manager for the school, following up on absences, liaising with parents and holding attendance and punctuality meetings. The Learning Mentor also offers mental health and emotional wellbeing support for children as required.

We are looking for a Learning Mentor who:
• Demonstrates the interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with pupils, families, colleagues and other agencies
• Is well organised and can work on their own initiative
• Has effective written and verbal communication skills
• Remains calm under pressure and is supportive to pupils, parents and staff
• Has experience of implementing safeguarding policy and procedures
• Believes that all children deserve the best
• Is able to provide support to families and support the emotional health and wellbeing of pupils
• Can work effectively as part of a team

In return we can offer:
• A supportive, warm and friendly environment
• A caring and supportive staff team
• Well behaved and enthusiastic children
• Continuous professional development

For further details please refer to the job description and person specification. An application form and supporting statement should be completed, outlining your suitability for the post and how you meet the requirements of the person specification. Completed applications should be returned to the school. Please note that occasional flexibility in hours may be required in case of urgent referrals or meetings that overrun the school day. Working hours will be adjusted as necessary in these cases.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant's appointment will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment clearances including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check.
