Hours per week: 35
Annual Leave: 5 Weeks plus 10 days bank holiday
Contract: Fixed term until 30th April 2022

Henshaws Knowledge Village Community Services enable people of all ages living with sight loss and a range of other disabilities to make informed choices about their future. We deliver high quality services to people living with sight loss in Manchester. Independence and friendship are at the heart of what we do to help people find the confidence to go beyond their expectations.

A Henshaws Community Enablement Officer supports people throughout their journey offering expert support, guidance and skills, helping people to fulfil their potential.

Key responsibilities include:

- Support people with a personal plan to identify their needs, put support in place and link people in to our programmes.
- To deliver our wellbeing programmes in a range of community based settings; one to one Information, Advice and Guidance sessions, Henshaws Living with Sight Loss programme, deliver mini Visual Impairment Awareness Training (VIAT) and link in with and support a volunteer led Friendship Matters programme.
- To liaise with, promote, support and refer into other Henshaws services including Counselling, Digital Technology support, Gentle Exercise classes and signpost to other relevant services.

An understanding of the needs of clients with visual impairments and/or other disabilities, as well as a good understanding of promoting independence and supporting people to set personal plans, is essential. The successful candidate will also need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be IT literate with a working knowledge of MS office including Word, Outlook and Excel.
