Senior Policy Officer - Internal Policy Advice
Information Governance, Data Protection, Freedom of Information

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Internal Policy Advice Group, where you will be responsible for providing high-quality information rights policy advice across the ICO. You will work within the Group to forge productive relationships across the office, including with our senior leaders.

Internal Policy Advice provides both proactive and reactive advice on a range of information rights issues based on strategic priorities and business needs. You will get opportunity to contribute to policy development and to participate in cross office projects and priority cases. It is a forward looking function led by intelligence and the fast moving information rights landscape in which we operate.

About you

You will be a quick thinker, with excellent analytical skills and be able to recognise issues of wider implication within a fast-paced environment. You will get to the nub of an issue quickly having assimilated existing information and the views of internal stakeholders. You will develop relationships to ensure that others are made aware of high profile or strategically important advice.

You will have strong analytical ability and communication skills, both written and verbal. You will be used to dealing with complex issues and meeting tight deadlines, being able to prioritise your own work to do so. You will keep up to date with changing priorities and have demonstrable experience of working collaboratively with a variety of colleagues to meet agreed objectives.

Knowledge of information rights legislation or issues is likely to be beneficial, but we welcome applications from those with proven experience of working with similarly complex legislation.
