Trafford Council is committed to preventing and detecting fraud as well as ensuring that those who should be paying monies to the authority, do so. The authority is looking to recruit an experienced fraud investigator to enable the team to continue the work it has done to generate income for the authority as well as enforcing Trafford’s zero tolerance to fraud policy.
The successful candidate will need to have at least 2 years’ experience working in a similar anti-fraud position and be able to demonstrate how they have been actively involved in local authority fraud investigations. Ideally, the successful candidate should have a good knowledge of Council Tax and Business Rates legislation and procedures as well, although training will be provided for the right candidate. The ability to manage all cases effectively and ensure that workload is organised and that cases being investigated are maintained to a high standard and progressed to reach an appropriate conclusion in a timely manner will also be required.
Supervisory experience is essential as part of the role will involve managing a small team of staff.
Working across the organisations and with all levels of managers and staff, excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to provide influential input to the decision making process, including objective challenge, on strategy and policy development, efficiency, and encouraging a culture of continual improvement.
