Family Support Worker
Family Work

New Mills School and Glossopdale School are seeking to appoint a range of Student and Family Support Workers to work not only with the two secondary schools but also a number of our feeder primary schools within the communities we serve.

These posts have been created as a response to changes in the Multi Agency Team system within Derbyshire. These changes have provided an opportunity for groups of schools to pool their resources and create a team of workers to work with the children and families in the communities we serve.

The successful applicant will be responsible for identifying the needs, lead and contribute to the development and delivery of high quality and effective work with children, young people and their families. The post holder will be required to complete various assessments, review action plans and outcomes for families.

You will work with various professionals and agencies so as to build good effective and sustainable working relationships, in order to ensure that children and young people attend school regularly and that services provided are reviewed, actioned and effective change is demonstrated.

Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information.

If you are looking for a post which will provide challenges, variety, and opportunity in supporting children, young people and families, these roles are suited to you. Flexibility will be required to work outside core hours as the schools will be open from 08:30 am until 16.30pm. We are really excited about this new opportunity to create a team of highly skilled and experienced practitioners that will work with the families in the communities we serve.

The post is Term Time plus one week (40 weeks).

Application packs can be obtained from, and should be returned to Garry Cash, School Business Manager, New Mills School, Church Lane, New Mills, High Peak, SK22 4NR, or via email to gcash@newmillsschool.co.uk or from the school website www.newmillsschool.co.uk

Closing date for applications is 12:00 Monday 1st July 2019

If you are short-listed for interview, you will be contacted in advance, to discuss arrangements for the interview. Unfortunately, if you have not been contacted prior to the interview day, your application has not been successful on this occasion.

New Mills School and Glossopdale School are committed to safeguarding and the process of safer recruitment. As a result, this post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, and all shortlisted candidates will be expected to prove their identity at interview. The successful candidate will be expected to show original copies of qualifications and further proof of their identity.
