Consultant in Public Health
Salary: £79,900 to £87,948
37 hours per week

Blackburn with Darwen is a high performing authority which punches well above its weight. We are proud to serve a diverse population of 150,000 and it is fair to say that we are a borough of contrasts, with pockets of high deprivation as well as affluence, and high-density towns sitting alongside beautiful countryside. What binds us is a strong sense of place, community and mutual support.

We were hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, and our public health teams were at the heart of our work to support our communities through what was a very difficult time. Moving forwards, it is imperative that we tackle the underlying issues and key determinants of health in the borough which were a significant factor in our high Covid rates. That is why these two public health roles are so critical to us.

We are seeking a Consultant in Public Health who can help us target and deal with the many challenges our communities face, improving public health services and reducing inequalities in health and wellbeing. You will provide public health technical and specialist leadership and guidance to senior politicians and managers and ensure a public health approach to the development and commissioning of public health services, from prevention through to clinical treatment and care.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a cohesive and supportive team, working together to make a fundamental difference to the lives of our residents.
