About us

Trafford Council and its partners in the public, private and third sectors are embarking on a Vision which sees us working together to close inequality gaps and maximise Trafford’s huge potential. Our vision is working together to build the best future for all our communities and everyone in Trafford

Trafford really is a great place to work. With a positive permission culture, we embrace innovation and encourage performance. We’re keen to recruit someone with the right values and behaviours that can help us ensure our workplace values are at the heart of everything we do

Trafford Council is looking to expand the bank of Relief Residential Child Care Officer’s (RCCO) at the children’s homes. The posts are casual and provide cover at Trafford’s two children’s homes caring for young people aged between 11-17, from different backgrounds and cultures. The posts are casual and we are looking for people who are able to cover shifts including evening, weekend and overnight working.

We are transforming our families and children’s services through a programme of innovation, developing new ways of working to provide support at the earliest opportunity by working together with our partners in social care, police and health.

Our new Kindle Service implements the No Wrong Door multi-agency service model supporting adolescents who are either in care, edging to or on the edge of care. which has the facility to offer community based support to families and residential beds for children.

About you

The post holder will provide all aspects of care needs and interventions, in line with the young people’s Core Assessments and Care Plans, and develop effective action plans with a focus on reducing risks and building on strengths. Key working is integral to the post; working ‘with’ young people to develop their resilience and life skills to enable them to successfully manage the transition to independence.

The role requires you to work with young people and families when they most need it which will often be outside of normal working hours, including weekends. This role will require you to establish strong relationships with children and their families/carers to understand any barriers preventing them staying within the care of their family and community. The post holder will work with families supporting children within their home and providing residential care for children and young people who live/stay overnight at the ‘Hub’.

Key characteristic requirements of this post are: flexibility, commitment, building effective relationships, resilience, persistence and the ability to progress plans.

As a member of our team we will offer you a truly supportive environment, where you’ll be able to work with autonomy whilst knowing that you are a member of an experienced and skilled team. Alongside your experience, you’ll need to share our commitment to teamwork and our dedication to young people and their families. In addition to this support we aim to provide a wide range of learning and development opportunities.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, as an employee you will be expected to share this commitment.
