4x Family Support Workers (Area Teams and Permanence and Transitions)

One of these priorities is children and young people and we want them to have a fair start in life. To help us achieve this priority our Children’s Social Care Service is moving forward! We have a journey ahead of us, and we want you to be part of our journey.

As a Family Support Worker, you will be expected to assist Social Workers and Families by providing practical assistance to families in need of support in the community. The interventions you are required to complete will be identified through the social work assessment and may include aspects of transporting children to and from school, life story work, supporting families in crisis with advice and practical support and by developing practical, budgetary and parenting skills with families where necessary. This may involve lifting and carrying duties.

A Restorative approach to working with parents and children to develop positive behaviours and build confidence and self-sufficiency to resolve difficulties and sustain positive changes should be the focus of your role at all times.

The role requires a flexible and organised person with experience of working with children. You will need to be a confident communicator and have a strong ability to form positive relationships, be organised and non-judgemental. A suitable level of literacy, numeracy and IT skills are required as to is being a car driver and owner of a suitable vehicle.
