The Greater Manchester (GM) Health and Social Care Partnership, established in April 2016, is the body made up of the 33 NHS organisations and councils in the city region (with reach into social care, primary care, regulators, the community, voluntary sectors and Healthwatch) that is overseeing devolution and taking charge of the £6bn health and social care budget. Our vision is “to deliver the greatest and fastest possible improvement to the health and wellbeing of the 2.8 million people of Greater Manchester.

In 2016 the Greater Manchester Hospital Pharmacy Transformation Collaborative (GMHPTC) were challenged with overseeing transformation of hospital pharmacy services as part of this vision.

Over the past 2 years the collaborative has established a hospital pharmacy programme of change reviewing and redesigning priority areas in line with hospital pharmacy recommendations set out in the Lord Carter of Coles report Operational productivity and performance in English NHS acute hospital and NHS operational productivity: unwarranted variations in Mental health and Community health services.

In order to maintain transformational momentum a unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to work with the Chief Pharmacists of GM and the Hospital Pharmacy Transformation Lead role as the Project Manager – GM Hospital Pharmacy. To meet this challenge, the post holder will be a project manager who will work with key stakeholders in developing effective partnerships to support making demonstrable improvements to Pharmacy services across GM and able to successfully drive activities and implement changes in a complex system.

They will be highly driven and have the determination to initiate and deliver projects to completion. Political astuteness and negotiation skills are essential and a broad knowledge and experience of many areas within hospital care system is desirable.
